President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed Nigeria’s appreciation for the ongoing security partnership with the United States following the successful joint operation that eliminated a senior ISIS leader.
In a statement on Saturday, President Tinubu said Nigeria values the collaboration with the US in advancing shared security objectives in the fight against terrorism.
“I extend my sincere gratitude to President Trump for his leadership and unwavering support in this effort,” Tinubu stated.
The President commended the personnel from both Nigerian and US forces for their professionalism and courage in the operation.
He expressed optimism for continued cooperation, saying he looks forward to “more decisive strikes against all terrorist enclaves across the nation."
The statement comes hours after the confirmation of the elimination of high-ranking ISIS commander Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki (also known as Abu-Mainok) in the Lake Chad Basin through the joint Nigeria-US operation.
