Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, has accused the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) of continued violation of his father’s constitutional and human rights.
In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page on Saturday, May 16, 2026, Bello El-Rufai detailed two recent incidents that he described as serious attacks on his father’s basic rights while in ICPC custody.
According to him, Nasir El-Rufai’s personal doctor visited the agency around 3pm to discuss results of recent medical tests, but ICPC officials blocked the doctor from seeing him, insisting on written permission from the ICPC Chairman.
This action, he said, flouted a clear court order granting unrestricted access to his doctors.
He added that later in the evening, his father’s wife, Aunty Aichatou, was turned away when she brought his dinner around 7pm.
ICPC personnel reportedly cited orders not to allow food deliveries after 6:30pm.
Bello El-Rufai described these restrictions as “arbitrary rules” and “outright assaults on the rule of law.”
He demanded that all constitutional rights of his father be fully respected, warning that the family would no longer tolerate what he called a pattern of intimidation disguised as protocol.
The lawmaker stressed that no lawful detention justifies denying medical access or basic family care based on arbitrary curfews set by the ICPC.
He urged the Commission to abide by the laws it is meant to enforce.
