Bar. Firdausi Sunusi Umar, the sole female aspirant for the Ringim and Taura Federal Constituency in Jigawa State, has stepped down from the 2027 House of Representatives race and thrown her support behind the consensus candidate.
Firdausi, who was among eleven aspirants vying for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket, announced her withdrawal hours before the primary election.
She made the declaration during a courtesy call on Governor Umar Namadi at the Government House in Dutse.
In a formal letter of withdrawal addressed to the APC National Chairman, received by the state legal adviser, Bar. Baffa Alhassan, she cited the overall interest of unity, stability, and progress of the party as the reason for her decision.
She noted that the move followed wide consultations with party elders and stakeholders, in line with Section 87(1) of the Electoral Act 2026.
“I resolved and align myself with the consensus candidate of our great party, APC,” she stated. “I therefore wholeheartedly endorse Yusha’u Muhammad of our party for the Ringim and Taura Federal Constituency ticket.”
With her withdrawal, all other aspirants have now stepped down for Yusha’u Muhammad, paving the way for a smoother primary process in the constituency.
