The Nigerian Army has neutralised several terrorists in a successful ambush operation within Adankolo Forest Reserve in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According to a statement by Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Public Relations Officer of the 12 Brigade, troops of the Brigade’s Quick Response Group acted on credible intelligence about the movement of suspected terrorists.
They positioned themselves at a known crossing point and engaged the terrorists in a firefight in the early hours of Sunday, May 10, 2026.
Several terrorists were neutralised during the encounter, while others escaped with gunshot wounds into the surrounding bush.
Items recovered from the scene include two AK-47 rifles, one fabricated pistol, six magazines, 145 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one camouflage bandolier, one Honda motorcycle, Diclofenac medication, three mobile phones, three power banks, and the sum of ₦62,900.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts under Operation TIGER PAW II aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action and improving security along major routes and communities in Kogi State and neighbouring areas.
Troops are currently combing the general area in pursuit of the fleeing terrorists.
