Prominent politician and former presidential candidate, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the Accord Party.
Olawepo-Hashim made the declaration after officially joining the Accord Party, stating that the party will serve as the vehicle to actualise his ambition of transforming Nigeria.
The announcement was made during a stakeholders’ meeting in Kwara State, which drew elders, youths, and market leaders from across the 16 local government areas of the state.
He expressed confidence that the Accord Party is well-positioned to produce the next president of Nigeria in 2027.
The move comes as opposition political realignments continue ahead of the next general elections, with Olawepo-Hashim positioning himself as a strong contender capable of breaking the dominance of the ruling party.
He recently received a major endorsement from Oba Ajara, a respected ally of the late Senate President Olusola Saraki, who described him as “the only true opposition leader” in the country.
