Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election for the 2027 election.
The direct primaries were held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, across various wards in the state.
Governor Alia, who participated in the exercise at RCM Primary School in Ihugh, Mbadede Council Ward, expressed satisfaction with the massive turnout, describing the process as a clear reflection of the people’s mandate.
Alia used the occasion to call on APC members in Benue to turn out massively in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
He also pledged to reconcile with other aspirants who did not emerge as candidates.
The outcome further strengthens Alia’s position as the APC flag bearer for the next governorship race.
