Victor Umeh, a chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), has attributed the opposition to former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to his rejection of transactional politics.
Umeh made the remarks during an interview on Trust TV on Thursday.He specifically addressed the recent fallout involving former Nollywood actor Kenneth Okonkwo, warning him against raining curses on Obi.
According to Umeh, he had previously advised Okonkwo privately, but Okonkwo declared he would never work with Obi again.
“Peter Obi is a different kind of politician. I have worked with him for years, and he will never give you money to vote for him,” Umeh said. “Peter Obi has said he will never engage in transactional politics or use money to buy positions to serve the people. That’s why they’re against him.”
