The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over the sum of N837.5 million recovered from two separate fraud cases to the Katsina State Government.
The money was formally presented on Monday at the EFCC Kano Zonal Directorate. The recoveries stemmed from investigations into the diversion of public funds linked to tax remittances and the state treasury.
According to details from the EFCC, one case involved the recovery of ₦547,015,389 from the alleged diversion of nearly ₦1.3 billion in statutory tax, while the second case made up the balance to reach the total of ₦837,485,389 handed over.
The Acting Zonal Director commended the commission’s commitment to recovering proceeds of crime and ensuring that diverted public funds are returned to their rightful owners for the benefit of the people.
A representative of the Katsina State Government received the funds and expressed appreciation for the EFCC’s efforts in fighting corruption.
