The Accord Party has accused thugs linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attacking the campaign office of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the party’s secretariat in Osogbo.
In a statement on Monday, Accord National Chairman Maxwell Mgbuden described the incident as the second assault on the governor’s campaign office within two weeks.
He said armed men fired sporadic shots at the building, shattering glass windows and damaging several offices, including that of Victor Akande, the Accord Chairman in Osun State.
The attackers allegedly inscribed “Say no to automatic ticket” on the wall of the building.
Mgbuden further claimed that APC supporters had earlier destroyed the party’s campaign billboards, vandalised public property, and killed the son of its women leader in Irewole Local Government Area.
He condemned the violence, stating that politics should be a contest of ideas rather than “garrison politics.”
The Accord chairman called on the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest those responsible and provide adequate security for Imole House and other strategic locations ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
