A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of popular blogger Chidiebere Justice Mark, also known as Justice Crack, in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Mark was arraigned on a three-count charge for allegedly making a false claim in a viral video posted on his X handle that Nigerian military personnel are poorly fed.
The defendant, who resides at Plot 88 Sabo Lugbe, Abuja, pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him in court on Monday.
Prosecuting counsel, Emmanuel Orubo, urged the court to remand the accused in DSS custody and requested a date for the commencement of trial.
Defence lawyer Marshall Abubakar made an oral application for bail, but the court declined to entertain it, directing him to file a formal bail application instead.
In her ruling, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ordered that the blogger be remanded in DSS custody and adjourned the matter to May 25, 2026, for the commencement of trial and hearing of any formal bail application.
The case has generated significant public interest, with reports of tension at the court premises as some youths demanded the immediate release of the blogger.
