Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has officially purchased the Senate nomination form of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the Bauchi South Senatorial District.
The governor picked up the form on Thursday during the APM National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
This comes just five days after he joined the APM on May 2, 2026, following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).Mohammed cited the lingering court cases and internal crises in the PDP as reasons for his defection.
He described the APM as a viable platform free from legal battles that will allow him and his supporters to continue serving the people.
In a statement, the governor said: “During the meeting, I officially picked up my nomination form to contest for the senate seat representing Bauchi South Senatorial District under the platform of the APM ahead of the forthcoming elections.”
He added that after wide consultations, the APM best aligns with his vision of good governance, internal democracy, justice, inclusiveness, and respect for the rule of law.
Mohammed revealed that several political office holders and stakeholders who served under the PDP structure in Bauchi including members of the National Assembly, State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, commissioners, and grassroots supporters have followed him to the new party.
The development confirms his senatorial ambition, which he declared shortly after leaving the PDP.
