The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has largely adopted a consensus approach for its House of Representatives primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections, endorsing 20 incumbent lawmakers without contests.
According to the party's state Public Relations Officer, Auwalu Soja, in a recorded voice message, an agreement was reached to return most serving members through consensus. However, primaries were held in four constituencies where consensus could not be achieved.
In Bagwai/Shanono Federal Constituency, serving lawmaker Yusuf Ahmad Badau defeated former Rep Faruk Lawan to secure the APC ticket. In Madobi/Garun Mallam, Sulaiman Mukthar Ishaq emerged victorious.
Additionally, Hamisu Chidari of Dambatta Federal Constituency was elected for a third term, while Mustapha Bala Maigidan Ruwa won in Dawakin Kudu/Warawa.
Notable consensus candidates include prominent figures such as Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Abubakar Kabir Bichi, and Abdulmumini Jibrin Kofa.
Soja described the entire process as peaceful and orderly, with no security breaches reported.
This development signals a relatively smooth nomination process for the APC in Kano as preparations intensify for the 2027 polls.
