Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, on Wednesday met with All Progressives Congress (APC) ward executives from all 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State as part of his grassroots mobilisation for the 2027 governorship election.
Addressing the executives at Jogor Centre, Liberty Road, Ibadan, Adelabu emphasised the need to strengthen the party’s base to rebuild the APC and reclaim power in the state.
He described the grassroots as the pillars of the party and vital to any successful government, stressing that no administration can achieve meaningful development without the input of people at the ward level.
Adelabu, who recently resigned from the Federal Executive Council to pursue his ambition, had on Tuesday met with the state APC executive committee where he formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election.
He expressed confidence in winning the party’s ticket and rejected any move to impose a consensus candidate.“Ward executives remain the closest link between the party and the people,” he said, adding that sustainable progress must begin from the communities.
Adelabu promised not to disappoint the people if elected, pledged regular engagement with the executives, and assured them of prioritising their welfare and involvement in decision-making.
Party leaders who spoke at the meeting, including Isiaka Alimi from Akinyele LGA and Wale Sanusi from Ibadan North LGA, commended Adelabu and urged support for his ambition.
