ADC Clears 1,657 Aspirants, Disqualifies 212 Ahead of Primaries

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has screened and cleared 1,657 aspirants for its upcoming primary elections across the country, while disqualifying 212 others for failing to meet the necessary requirements.

The party, led by its factional National Chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, announced that the screening exercise was conducted transparently across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Out of a total of 1,869 aspirants who participated, only those who satisfied the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines were cleared to contest in the primaries.

According to the ADC, 980 aspirants were screened for State House of Assembly positions, out of which 155 were disqualified. For the House of Representatives, 50 aspirants failed to meet the requirements, while seven senatorial aspirants were also disqualified.

The party listed reasons for disqualification to include inconsistencies in dates of birth and graduation years, absence of valid party membership cards, and non-compliance with electoral guidelines.

The screening committees were set up in all states to ensure the process adhered strictly to the party’s rules.
