Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for Ogun East Senatorial District.
The primary, held on Monday, saw Governor Abiodun emerge victorious as the party’s candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.
His main rival, incumbent Senator Gbenga Daniel, reportedly stepped down shortly before the exercise, resulting in Abiodun polling overwhelmingly high votes across the district while Daniel recorded zero or minimal votes in several wards where results were announced.
Abiodun described the process as peaceful and orderly, thanking party members for their support and describing the outcome as a strong vote of confidence in his administration.
The declaration further intensifies the political rivalry between Abiodun and Daniel ahead of the 2027 general elections.
