The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Adewole Adebayo, has accused President Bola Tinubu of being the author of the internal political crisis bedevilling the party.
Adebayo made this allegation on Tuesday while fielding
questions in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’, stating that
Tinubu cannot be the Candidate-General of the Federation.
The SDP is currently faced with
internal wranglings leading to the expulsion of Adebayo by the Shehu Gabam
faction of the party.
Speaking during the interview, Adebayo said, “President
Tinubu is the author of the so-called crisis in the SDP. What they are doing to
the SDP mirrors what they have done to other political parties. We do not know
who Abimbola Atanda is within the SDP, and we do not engage with agents.
“I am simply letting President Tinubu know that he cannot be
the candidate for the APC, SDP, and Labour Party; he cannot be the
Candidate-General of the nation. He should stick to his own party.
“They passed a law stating that no one can belong to more
than one party, yet Tinubu wants to be affiliated with all political parties
while acting as the Chairman of INEC and a part-time Chief Justice of Nigeria.”
