Suspect in Trump Gala Shooting to Be Arraigned Monday — US Prosecutor

The suspect in the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner will be arraigned in federal court on Monday, US Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro has announced.

Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old from Torrance, California, faces preliminary charges of using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon. More charges are expected to be added.

Allen was arrested on Saturday night after he allegedly charged a Secret Service checkpoint at the Washington Hilton hotel armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives.

He exchanged gunfire with law enforcement, during which one Secret Service operative was shot at close range but escaped injury thanks to his bulletproof vest.

The suspect did not reach the ballroom where President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other senior officials were gathered.

Trump and other protectees were swiftly evacuated amid the chaos.Authorities have described Allen as a lone actor with no indication of broader threats or accomplices. A motive has not yet been publicly disclosed.

The dramatic security breach disrupted the annual dinner, which President Trump later said would be rescheduled.
