The Kaduna State Police Command has clarified that a loud explosion at Mando Motor Park early on Sunday was caused by a gas tank overfill on a luxury bus, not a bomb as initially speculated.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, the incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. and involved a compressed natural gas (LNG/CNG)-propelled luxury bus belonging to Silver Luxury Travel.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the explosion resulted from overfilling of the vehicle’s gas tank.
Police detectives and operatives from the Bomb Disposal Unit were quickly deployed to the scene following reports of a loud blast.
The affected bus has since been towed to a safe location to eliminate any further risk.“No casualties or loss of property were recorded, and normal activities have resumed at the motor park,” the statement added.
Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, has ordered a full investigation into the incident to determine the exact circumstances and prevent future occurrences.
The police urged residents and the media to verify information before sharing it, warning that unconfirmed reports could cause unnecessary panic.
They assured the public that there was no security threat linked to the explosion and that the area remains secured.
The clarification comes after initial reports and social media speculation suggested a possible bomb attack at the busy motor park.
