Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr Tunde Lemo, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu, urging Nigerians to continue supporting his administration to consolidate ongoing economic reforms.
Lemo, who is also a 2027 governorship aspirant in Ogun State under the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the call on Saturday while mobilising his supporters to welcome President Tinubu during the inauguration of the Gateway International Cargo Airport in Ilisan-Remo.
He praised Tinubu for providing necessary support to states to drive economic growth and prosperity.
Lemo described the President’s reform agenda as “bold and necessary,” adding that it requires courage and consistency to reposition Nigeria for sustainable development.
“The President deserves continued support beyond 2027 to consolidate the ongoing reforms,” Lemo stated.
The former CBN deputy governor also commended Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for the successful completion of the cargo airport and the launch of the state airline with two newly acquired aircraft.
He described the airport as a game-changer that would boost the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), increase Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), create jobs, and position Ogun as a major investment hub.
“This project represents progress, opportunity, and a new economic pathway for our people. It will create jobs, boost commerce, and position Ogun as a strategic hub for investment,” he said.
Lemo noted that the cargo airport would facilitate the export of agricultural products, helping to strengthen foreign earnings.
He projected that Ogun State could rank among the top three states in IGR within the next five years due to the project.
He also acknowledged the contributions of past administrations in laying the foundation for the airport’s success while hailing Governor Abiodun’s commitment to legacy infrastructure.
Lemo thanked his supporters and the people of Ogun State for their peaceful conduct during the President’s visit.
