Prophet Joshua Iginla of Champion Royal Assembly has declared that only Peter Obi possesses the strength to give President Bola Tinubu a serious challenge in the 2027 presidential election.
The cleric made the statement during a live Sunday service on April 20, 2026, while addressing his congregation.
According to Iginla, Obi, a leading contender for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket needs a northern deputy to mount a formidable opposition against the ruling APC.
“This is my political opinion. If we really want to give the opposition party a strong fight, put Peter Obi there, let him be deputized by any Northerner and then we will have a fight,” he said.
He warned Obi against accepting the vice-presidential slot, stating: “Peter Obi, don’t, if you vice anybody, you have lost your political relevance. It’s better you go zero and leave them to do their things.”
The prophecy comes amid ongoing discussions between Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso for a possible alliance, with many supporters projecting an Obi/Kwankwaso ticket for the 2027 race.
