Normalcy has been restored in the affected communities of Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State following days of tension caused by deadly reprisal attacks.
The Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed that a joint team of security agencies successfully stabilised the area after deploying reinforced personnel.
The violence broke out after some individuals carried out reprisal attacks over the reported killing of their kinsmen on Thursday in Udege Kasa and Akyawa communities.
The clashes led to loss of lives and destruction of property.The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed Jauro, has ordered an intensive manhunt for all perpetrators involved in the violence.
Tactical teams and investigators have been directed to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible.
During a stakeholders’ meeting in the affected areas, the Commissioner appealed to residents to remain calm and law-abiding while cooperating with security agencies by providing useful information to aid investigations.
Security presence will remain in the communities to prevent any further breakdown of law and order.
