The Labour Party (LP) has formally notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of its approved timetable for the 2026 ward, local government, and state congresses, alongside its National Convention.
In a letter addressed to the Director of Election and Party Monitoring at INEC headquarters, the party stated that the notification complies with Section 82(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended), INEC’s guidelines, and relevant sections of the 1999 Constitution.
The party explained that the new timetable follows the postponement of its earlier scheduled activities.
The delay was made to allow for broader participation of members nationwide and to complete its ongoing digital membership registration exercise.
