Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has declared strong support for President Bola Tinubu and asserted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is the only party capable of governing both Kano State and Nigeria in the 2027 general elections.
Yusuf made the remarks while addressing a large crowd of supporters who turned out to welcome him back to Kano after APC-related engagements in Abuja.
In a video circulating on Sunday, the governor dismissed opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying they stand no chance against the APC.
“APC in Kano State is the only winning party. There is no other party that can take control of Kano and Nigeria, by the grace of Allah,” Yusuf stated confidently.
The governor, who recently defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the APC, addressed critics calling him a one-term governor.
He said his political journey would continue successfully in the ruling party.“We did one term in NNPP and left. We will do the second term in APC. There are two terms in APC, the party of the people,” he added.
Yusuf pledged Kano’s full backing for President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. “We in Kano are fully behind Mr President and will support his re-election, by the grace of Allah,” he said.
He also commended Tinubu’s administration for efforts to improve the economy and infrastructure.
The governor reassured residents of his commitment to delivering good governance, promising more investments in education, infrastructure, health, agriculture, and youth empowerment.
He urged supporters to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and mobilise for the APC ahead of the 2027 polls.
Kano State APC Chairman Umar Doguwa described the massive turnout as a clear sign of overwhelming support for Governor Yusuf and the party.
