The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano State has reached an agreement to allocate 60 percent of its leadership positions to former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his supporters.
The power-sharing arrangement was decided at a stakeholders’ meeting held to finalise the party’s leadership structure ahead of its state congress.
Kano ADC Chairman, Musa Ungogo, confirmed the deal, stating that Kwankwaso’s camp will take the larger share while the remaining 40 percent will be distributed among existing party members and other groups that recently joined the ADC.
Ungogo noted that former Deputy Governor Nasiru Gawuna, now aligned with Kwankwaso, will be accommodated within the 60 percent allocation.
The 40 percent share will be spread across members from the Labour Party, PDP, defectors from the APC, SDP, and political newcomers.
He expressed satisfaction with the formula, saying: “One thing you can take home is that every group and every member is happy about the sharing formula... all the positions that you will get from this congress today would be reached by consensus. There will be nothing to regret.”
The party chairman described Kwankwaso’s entry into the ADC as a major boost, noting that the party is witnessing a surge in popularity with new members joining from various political backgrounds.
