Former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has strongly criticised President Bola Tinubu, accusing him of merely paying lip service to the worsening insecurity across Nigeria.
Adebayo made the remarks during a solidarity visit to Anguwan Rukuba in Plateau State, where suspected attackers killed no fewer than 29 people on Palm Sunday night, leaving several others injured.
The SDP chieftain described the recurring loss of lives and destruction of property nationwide as clear evidence of leadership failure under the current administration.“If the government is truly committed to protecting citizens, it has the capacity to do so,” Adebayo said.
“The criminals who carried out this attack are not stronger than the government. If there is seriousness, they can be identified and brought to justice. Tinubu is only paying lip service to the insecurity confronting the country.”
While commiserating with the people of Anguwan Rukuba over the tragic incident, Adebayo assured them of his solidarity and urged residents to remain vigilant. He also called on security authorities to take decisive action to restore safety and prevent future attacks.
The latest violence in Jos North has sparked fresh outrage and heightened concerns about the federal government’s ability to tackle insecurity in Plateau State and other parts of the country.
