Former Kogi West Senator and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has sharply criticised President Bola Tinubu over the worsening security situation in the country, urging him to resign.
Melaye stated that President Tinubu has woefully failed in his primary duty of protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.
In a viral video statement, Melaye declared: “Today there is no welfare, not to talk of security. Tinubu has woefully failed in this respect. My advice to Tinubu is to resign, he is wearing an oversized shoe.”
He accused the Tinubu administration of making empty promises on insecurity while Nigerians continue to live in perilous times.“Mr. Tinubu, resign,” Melaye bluntly added, describing the situation as a reflection of “colossal incompetence” in handling the nation’s security challenges.
Melaye’s comments come amid persistent reports of banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes across several parts of the country, which have continued to claim lives and displace communities despite government assurances.
The outspoken politician maintained that the current administration has been unable to provide the needed leadership and effective security architecture required to safeguard citizens.
This is not the first time Melaye has taken a swipe at President Tinubu. He has consistently accused the government of poor performance in key areas, including security and governance.
As of the time of this report, the Presidency is yet to respond to Melaye’s latest criticism.
