Businessman Ibrahim Mahama has sent one of his private jets abroad to be converted into a fully equipped air ambulance to strengthen Ghana’s emergency medical services.
The aircraft, known as the “Dzata Jet,” left Ghana on April 3, 2026. It will undergo specialised modifications overseas, including installation of advanced life-support systems and critical care equipment, to support emergency medical evacuations across the country.
Mahama decided to repurpose the Bombardier Challenger 604 after acquiring a newer jet. He stated that the air ambulance will be available to all Ghanaians for national emergency response, especially in remote areas where rapid air transport is critical.
The initiative has received widespread praise as a significant contribution to improving healthcare infrastructure in Ghana.
