Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has announced the death of Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega, wife of Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega, former Vice-Chancellor of the university and former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The university made the announcement via its official social media platforms on Sunday, expressing condolences to the family.
“BUK announces the passing of Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega,” the statement read. The cause of her death was not disclosed.
Her funeral (Janazah) prayer is scheduled to hold immediately after Zuhr prayer today, Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the National Mosque in Abuja.
The university prayed for the repose of her soul, asking Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus.
