Gov Yusuf Lays Foundation for N1.3bn Mega Secondary School in Nasarawa LGA

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has laid the foundation stone for a new N1.3 billion secondary school at Kaura Goge in Nasarawa Local Government Area.

The project will replace the dilapidated Maikwatashi School, which had suffered encroachment and alleged illegal sale of parts of its land by unscrupulous individuals.

The old Maikwatashi School property has been handed over to the Kano State College of Arts and Islamic Studies (CAS) for continued educational use.

Governor Yusuf said the decision to build the new school was driven by complaints from residents about the poor condition of the old facility and the difficulties students face accessing education.

Many students in the area currently travel long distances to schools in Sabon Gari and other locations.

“There are huge numbers of students in this area who had to go to Sabon Gari for schooling. That is why we want to build a school here,” the governor stated.

He urged residents to cooperate with the contractor for smooth execution and warned the contractor to deliver quality work in line with specifications.

Commissioner for Education, Ali Haruna Makoda (also referred to as Goni Ali Haruna Makoda), disclosed that the school will cost N1.3 billion and will feature 32 classrooms, 36 toilets, four libraries, and other facilities.

He described the foundation-laying as a fulfilment of the governor’s campaign promises to improve educational infrastructure in the state.

The project is part of ongoing efforts to enhance access to quality secondary education and address infrastructure challenges in Kano.
