Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, alongside former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, and other loyalists, on Friday picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The forms, which cost ₦100 million, were collected at the APC National Headquarters on Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja.
Tinubu, the then-national leader of the APC and former Governor of Lagos State, was out of the country on pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia at the time.
He had personally paid for the forms and mandated the team, drawn largely from the Tinubu Support Groups (TSG), to collect them on his behalf.
Speaking to journalists after the exercise, Faleke described Tinubu as the only viable candidate they recognised, adding that the group was acting directly on the former Lagos governor’s instructions.
The move signalled the formal entry of Tinubu into the race for the APC presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Loyalists present expressed confidence that Tinubu would excel in any primary process, whether direct or indirect and replicate his developmental successes in Lagos at the national level.
