Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has paid N25 million to cover registration fees for 66 amateur football clubs in Kano State.
The lawmaker also donated buses to support the clubs’ operations and ease transportation challenges faced by players and officials during tournaments.
The gesture, announced on Wednesday, is aimed at boosting grassroots sports development and empowering young talents across the state.
Beneficiary clubs commended Barau for the intervention, describing it as a major boost to football at the community level in Kano.
Barau, who represents Kano North Senatorial District, reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment and sports promotion as tools for job creation and social development.
