The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has purchased an All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form for its immediate past President, Lucky Emonefe, to contest the Ethiope Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Delta State.
NANS President, Olusola Ladoja, presented the form to Emonefe in Abuja on Wednesday, saying the gesture was in recognition of his “outstanding service and dedication” to the student body during his tenure.
Ladoja urged the APC to support former student leaders seeking elective office, citing Emonefe’s role in actualizing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and his alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as proof of his capacity.
He added that fielding candidates with proven records in student leadership would boost the party’s support among young Nigerians ahead of the 2027 polls.
Responding, Emonefe thanked NANS for the “surprising and encouraging” support, describing it as a vote of confidence from Nigerian students. He pledged to prioritize youth development, education, economic empowerment, transparency, and inclusive governance if elected.
The event was attended by student leaders and stakeholders who lauded NANS for promoting youth participation in politics.
