Abia Monarchs Confer Chieftaincy Title on Tinubu

The Umunneochi Traditional Rulers’ Advisory Council in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State has conferred the chieftaincy title of ‘Ike Oha 1 of Umunneochi’ on President Bola Tinubu.

The title, which translates to “the strength of the people,” was bestowed on the President on Friday during a civic reception organised at Amuda Isuochi in honour of the immediate past Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mrs Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

Chairman of the council and Ezema III of Lokpa, Eze Franklin Ohalezim, said the honour was in appreciation of President Tinubu’s decision to appoint Onyejeocha into his cabinet.

“President Tinubu gave our daughter the opportunity to explore her talent and serve her people and society well as minister,” Ohalezim stated.

Responding on behalf of the President, the National Welfare Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Donatus Nwankpa, thanked the royal fathers for the recognition and for “gifting their daughter for national service.”

He added that President Tinubu found it difficult to accept Onyejeocha’s resignation and urged the traditional rulers to encourage her as she pursues her next political ambition.

The conferment highlights the appreciation of the Umunneochi traditional rulers for the former minister’s service and President Tinubu’s role in her appointment.
