Edo: Police Rescue Nine Kidnap Victims Along Benin–Lagos Corridor

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have successfully rescued nine kidnap victims in a coordinated operation along the Benin–Lagos Expressway and in the Imiegba forest in Agenebode, Edo State.

The rescues followed abductions in two separate incidents. The victims, who were taken along the Benin–Lagos corridor, were freed after the police mounted immediate and massive tactical deployments, intelligence gathering, aerial surveillance, and sustained bush-combing exercises.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, persistent pressure from the operation forced the kidnappers to abandon the victims.

All nine were rescued alive. The victims have undergone medical evaluation and treatment and have since been reunited with their families.

They are reported to be in stable condition. The operation was directed by the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika.

The police have strengthened security presence along the Benin–Lagos Expressway and adjoining forest corridors to prevent further incidents.
