Speculation is mounting over a potential joint presidential ticket between Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in the 2027 general elections, triggering mixed reactions from Nigerians across the country.
The buzz intensified after Kwankwaso joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi, a prominent ADC figure, paid him a Sallah visit in Kano on March 22, 2026, drawing large crowds and widespread attention.
In 2023, Obi ran for president under the Labour Party while Kwankwaso contested under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Many Nigerians believe an Obi-Kwankwaso alliance could be formidable. Lilian Ijeoma, a civil servant in Abuja, described it as a potential “game-changer,” saying Nigeria needs leaders with proven track records.
Emeka Nwafor, a political science student, called it “a strong alliance,” while politics broadcaster Owigo Okolo expressed confidence that the duo would win, stating he was ready to vote for them.
On social media, reactions have been equally divided:Many users praised the combination of Obi’s integrity and Kwankwaso’s political structure in the North.
Supporters hailed it as the unity needed to challenge the ruling APC.
Others expressed caution, warning that such alliances often collapse before elections or could face internal conflicts.
While some see the ticket as a strong force capable of rescuing Nigeria, others remain skeptical about its feasibility and sustainability.
