Wike Seeks Stronger Japan Partnership to Transform Abuja

Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, is looking to strengthen ties with Japan to accelerate Abuja's development, aligning with its master plan.

Wike made this known during a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Suzuki Hideo, and officials from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The partnership aims to update Abuja's 1979 Master Plan, focusing on infrastructure expansion, economic growth, and climate resilience up to 2050.

Japan will provide technical expertise, and the collaboration will also explore opportunities in agriculture, waste management, and industrial development.

Wike praised Japan's contributions to Nigeria's education, health, and nutrition sectors, citing teacher training programs in Tokyo.

Ambassador Hideo reaffirmed Japan's commitment to Nigeria's development, emphasizing Abuja's crucial role in driving national progress.
