Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully rescued at least 157 civilians who were abducted by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists along the Buratai–Kamuya road in Borno State.
The incident took place on Monday, March 30, around 2:50 p.m., when soldiers from the 135 Special Forces Battalion, deployed at Echo 1 in Dutse Kura, came under attack while escorting a convoy.
During the fierce engagement, the troops discovered that the terrorists had seized approximately 17 vehicles carrying the civilians including men, women, and children and were attempting to move them into the bush.
The military operation thwarted the abduction, forcing the terrorists to abandon the hostages.
The rescued civilians were safely transported to Buratai town for onward movement to their various destinations and eventual reunification with their families.
This latest success highlights the ongoing efforts by security forces in the region to counter insurgent activities and protect civilian lives in Borno.
