Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has participated in an ongoing protest in Aba, Abia State, calling for the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
A video circulating online captures Sowore among the demonstrators as they march through the streets, chanting in solidarity with Kanu. The protest, organized by the Coalition of Lovers of Freedom and dubbed the “One Million March,” demands an end to Kanu's detention. Kanu, convicted on terrorism charges, is currently serving a life imprisonment sentence.
Sowore, who has a history of advocating for various human rights causes, was seen addressing the crowd and marching alongside participants. In one clip from the event, he reportedly stated that Kanu “must spend this upcoming Easter holidays with us outside detention; he has suffered enough.”
The demonstration reflects broader and sustained agitation by Kanu's supporters across Nigeria, with participants emphasizing peaceful demands for his freedom. Sowore's involvement highlights cross-regional solidarity in the calls for Kanu's release.
