NNPC Slashes Petrol Prices: N1,130/litre in Lagos, N1,165/litre in Abuja

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has reduced the pump price of petrol to N1,130 per litre in Lagos and N1,165 per litre in Abuja.

This latest adjustment, effective Wednesday, March 12, 2026, brings welcome relief to motorists following recent volatility in fuel costs.

The new rates mark a significant drop:

N100 reduction in Lagos (from the previous N1,230 per litre).

N95 reduction in Abuja (from the earlier N1,260 per litre).

The price cuts were confirmed at several NNPC retail outlets, including:In Lagos: Isheri Oshun Road, Apple Junction, and Ago Palace Way stations selling at N1,130 per litre.

In Abuja: Outlets in Jabi and Wuse now at N1,165 per litre (with some variations reported slightly lower in select locations).

The reduction follows recent downward adjustments in ex-depot (gantry) prices, influenced by factors such as improved domestic refining supply from players like Dangote Refinery and softening global crude oil dynamics after earlier spikes.

While NNPC stations have implemented these lower pump prices, rates at independent marketers may differ slightly and continue to adjust based on supply chains.

This move is seen as a step toward easing transportation and living costs for Nigerians in these major urban centers, though broader market stability remains subject to international oil trends and local refining output. NNPC Ltd. has emphasized its commitment to aligning pricing with prevailing conditions to maintain product availability across its network.
