Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has directed the immediate release of March 2026 salaries to civil servants, local government workers, Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) staff, and pensioners ahead of Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
Payments are scheduled to begin on Friday, March 13, 2026, according to a statement from Abubakar Bawa, Director-General of Media and Publicity at Government House, Sokoto.
The governor described the move as part of his administration's ongoing support for workers, urging greater dedication, punctuality, and hard work in return.
He noted that civil servants are key to delivering on the Nine-Point Smart Innovative Agenda for a prosperous Sokoto.
Since taking office, the administration has maintained timely salary payments, cleared inherited gratuity backlogs, ensured prompt pension disbursements, restored monthly imprest to MDAs, and created a conducive environment for the civil service.
The state has also invested in capacity building through training, provided essential tools to agencies, and recently recruited 3,000 new workers to improve service delivery, balance workforce distribution, and tackle unemployment.
Governor Aliyu encouraged senior staff to mentor the new recruits, strengthening the civil service overall.
This early payment gesture aims to ease financial pressures and allow employees and pensioners to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr more comfortably.
