President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that electricity supply will get better in the coming days, despite recurring power outages experienced across the country in recent weeks.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention in Abuja on Friday, March 27, 2026, the President acknowledged public frustrations with the power sector.
“I assure you, many of you lamenting the problem of electricity and power; we are paying attention to that,” Tinubu said. “We are going to improve on it. Electricity will become better, and we assure you there will be opportunities and progress in our industrialisation.”
The assurance comes as Nigeria battles lower electricity generation, leading to widespread blackouts that have affected households and businesses.
The President linked improved power supply to broader economic goals, emphasizing that stable electricity is key to driving industrial growth and national progress.
This statement aligns with recent comments from the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who also promised improvements in the coming days or weeks, attributing current challenges partly to temporary issues like gas supply constraints.
Tinubu’s remarks at the APC convention were part of a larger address highlighting his administration’s reform efforts, even as he admitted that the path to meaningful change in critical sectors like power remains challenging.
Nigerians have continued to call for urgent and sustainable solutions to the long-standing power crisis, which many see as essential for economic recovery and daily living.
