Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has relieved Alhaji Abdullahi Musa of his position as Head of Service with immediate effect.
The decision, announced on Tuesday evening, March 10, 2026, forms part of the administration's ongoing efforts to reposition the state civil service for greater efficiency, discipline, and enhanced service delivery across government institutions.
A statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, revealed that Musa's tenure as a civil servant had expired since 2024, though he had been retained by the government amid earlier controversy over the extension.
Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for Musa's service, stating: “We wish him the best in his future endeavours and pray for his continued success in all aspects of life.”
The governor directed Musa to hand over the affairs of the office to the acting Head of Service by Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary in the Administration and General Services Department at the Cabinet Office, has been appointed as acting Head of Service pending the appointment of a substantive replacement.
The move comes as part of broader reforms under Yusuf's administration to strengthen administrative structures in the state.
