The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has successfully returned the sum of ₦3,727,500 to the rightful owners or their representatives after the money was discovered at the scene of a road traffic crash in Kaduna State.
FRSC personnel from the Zaria Unit Command made the recovery during rescue and clearance operations following the accident.
The cash found scattered among the wreckage and victims' belongings was carefully collected, documented, and verified before being handed over intact.
This commendable action reinforces the FRSC's reputation for honesty and professionalism, as officers routinely safeguard and return valuables, large sums of money, and personal effects found at crash sites rather than keeping them.
The incident also serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with transporting significant amounts of cash on Nigerian highways, where accidents can occur unexpectedly.
The FRSC continues to urge road users to exercise caution, avoid carrying excessive cash, and prioritize safety measures to reduce the frequency and severity of road crashes.
