Each of the 12 beneficiary institutions will receive N4 billion to rehabilitate existing engineering workshops, construct new ones where necessary, and procure modern, industry-relevant equipment.

The initiative aims to strengthen practical training, boost graduate skills, and align tertiary education with national development needs.

The selected universities are:

Alausa explained that the funds, drawn from TETFund's special high-impact intervention, target Federal Universities of Technology and select conventional institutions to address infrastructure gaps in engineering education.

He added that an additional N20 billion has been earmarked in the 2026 TETFund guidelines to support similar upgrades in other universities nationwide.

The newly inaugurated committee will monitor implementation, evaluate progress, and recommend sanctions for any non-compliance by beneficiary institutions.

The approval reflects ongoing efforts to revitalize STEM education and improve the quality of engineering graduates in Nigeria amid calls for better-equipped tertiary institutions.
