Market traders from Ogun West, coronet traditional rulers, and community leaders under the Baales Forum gathered in Ilaro, Ogun State, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, to publicly endorse President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027 and back Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (popularly known as Yayi) for the Ogun State governorship.
The groups pledged to launch grassroots mobilisation efforts, targeting at least 500,000 votes through an initiative called “Show Your PVC,” which will focus on voter registration and encouraging mass participation in the 2027 elections.
Chief Adewale Adesina, the Babaloja of Yewaland and Ogun State, explained that the support stems from the leaders’ track records. He praised President Tinubu for implementing tough economic reforms that are gradually stabilising the nation’s finances and repositioning the country.
“President Bola Tinubu, since assuming office, has spared no effort to reposition the country. He has taken some tough economic reform decisions that are beginning to stabilise our finances. We can see his efforts across the country, and it is because of this purposeful leadership that we believe he should be supported to continue beyond 2027,” Adesina said.
He also highlighted Senator Adeola’s contributions, including facilitating the construction of schools, roads, hospitals, and empowerment programmes across Ogun State.
“It is also in light of the leadership demonstrated by Senator Adeola, fondly called Yayi, in the past few years that we believe he is capable of sustaining and improving on the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun,” Adesina added. He stressed that endorsements must translate into action: “Politics is a game of numbers. Without a voter card, you cannot vote. We shall soon begin an operation tagged ‘Show Your PVC.’”Chief Yemisi Abass, the Iyaloja of Yewaland and Iyaloja-General of Ogun State, said the traders are committed to ensuring the continuation of the leaders’ good work through massive mobilisation.
Simeon Fagbohun, speaking for the Baales Forum (which represents over 1,000 community heads), commended Senator Adeola’s developmental projects in the senatorial district, such as roads, schools, markets, health centres, and support initiatives. “We believe he has the capacity to transform the state, which is why we are endorsing him as our preferred candidate for governor,” he stated. The forum also endorsed Tinubu to consolidate efforts toward economic growth and stability.
Oba Isaac Adeisa, the Ogiyan of Alari, read the communiqué on behalf of other coronet traditional rulers in Ogun West. The monarchs cited Tinubu’s economic revival efforts and Adeola’s project facilitation as reasons for their endorsement.
