Three Benue APC Youth Leaders Killed in Auto Crash En Route to Party Congress

Three youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State have died in a fatal motor accident while travelling to Lafia, Nasarawa State, for the party’s North Central Zonal Congress.

The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday along the Makurdi–Lafia road. The deceased were identified as:

Hon. Anawo Benjamin (Orokam Ward 3)

Hon. Ogbe Enemari (Ai-oono Ward 3)

Hon. Abraham Enenche (Olachagbaha Ward)

All three were serving as youth leaders of the APC in Ogbadibo LGA and were on official party assignment at the time of the crash. Several other members of the delegation sustained varying degrees of injuries and are currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Comrade Daniel Onjeh, the 2023 APC Benue South Senatorial candidate, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as a heartbreaking tragedy.

“They were committed grassroots politicians whose dedication and loyalty contributed significantly to the growth of the party,” Onjeh said. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and the APC family in Ogbadibo and Benue State, prayed for strength for those affected, and called for unity among party members while wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

Similarly, Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, described the accident as traumatic and devastating, especially as multiple lives were lost from the same local government area.

He sympathised with the people of Ogbadibo, the families, friends, and political associates of the deceased, prayed for the repose of their souls, and asked for divine comfort for those left behind.

The deaths have sent shockwaves through the APC in Benue State, coming at a time when the party was mobilising for its zonal congress. Party members and residents of Ogbadibo have been mourning the loss of the three young leaders, who were seen as promising figures in grassroots politics.
