14-Year-Old Boy Arrested for Attempted Stowaway at Lagos Airport

The Airport Police Command has arrested a 14-year-old boy, identified as Eke Miracle, for attempting to stow away at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.

The incident occurred on Monday when the teenager was discovered on the airport tarmac trying to gain access beneath an aircraft, in a serious breach of aviation security.

According to ASP Mohammed Adeola, Police Public Relations Officer for the Airport Police Command, preliminary investigations showed that the minor had unlawfully entered a restricted area of the airport without authorization, violating regulations of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The suspect was immediately taken into custody and handled in line with child protection procedures.

His parents were promptly notified, and all interactions, including interviews, were conducted in their presence.

The Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, Ogunbode Olufunke, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding critical aviation infrastructure.

She stressed that airports are highly sensitive zones that require strict compliance with security protocols.

The police chief urged parents and guardians to be more vigilant, especially concerning the movements of minors around restricted areas.

Authorities stated that the case will be handled in accordance with juvenile justice provisions, and the minor will be charged before the appropriate court.

The command reiterated its resolve to maintain safety and security across Nigeria’s aviation sector while ensuring the protection and welfare of any minors involved in such incidents.
