Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has issued a blunt warning to his political appointees, vowing immediate dismissal for anyone involved in unauthorized or secret meetings.
The governor delivered the stern message during Thursday's swearing-in of Dr. Dagogo Wokoma as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Barrister Sunny Ewule as Chief of Staff at the Executive Council Chamber, Government House, Port Harcourt.
Fubara stressed that appointments are for public service and state progress not personal ambition, political maneuvering, or patronage.
He made it clear that "nocturnal meetings" or any unofficial gatherings without his approval would not be tolerated."If you involve yourself in nocturnal meetings and all those things, I will sack you.
I’m very serious," he declared, reaffirming that peace, progress, and prosperity for Rivers people remain his top priorities.
The directive targets discipline and loyalty, with no specific individuals or groups named as the cause.
Fubara also urged retiring Permanent Secretaries to prepare proper handover notes for seamless transitions.
He reiterated that appointees must place the welfare of Rivers residents first, warning that any conduct embarrassing the government or undermining its goals would face swift consequences.
