Two Police Sergeants Arrested for Armed Robbery in Benue

The Benue State Police Command has arrested two serving police sergeants for their alleged involvement in an armed robbery, following the interception of a stolen vehicle and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and other incriminating items.

Acting on credible intelligence, a police surveillance patrol team intercepted a red Toyota Corolla (2010 model) with registration number NEG-35-AE, which had been reported stolen at gunpoint in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, as it was being driven towards Keffi.

The suspects reportedly forced their way through a police barrier at Angwan Lambu but were pursued and apprehended at a military checkpoint near Uke.

Upon arrest, security operatives recovered one AK-47 rifle (breech number undisclosed), three magazines loaded with 16 rounds of live ammunition, one black face mask, three mobile phones, and other personal items.

The suspects were identified as Sgt. Shedrack Abednego, attached to the Special Tactical Squad (FID) in Abuja, and Sgt. John Ayuba, attached to the CP Crack Squad of the FCT Command.

The Benue State Police Command confirmed the arrests and stated that investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of their involvement and any possible connections to other criminal activities.
