Tiwa Savage Launches Music Foundation, Partners Berklee for Free Training in Lagos

Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has launched the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation (TSMF), partnering with her alma mater, Berklee College of Music, to empower emerging African talent through world-class education.

The foundation's inaugural initiative is a fully funded, four-day intensive program titled "Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program."

Set to take place in Lagos from April 23–26, 2026, it will train 100 selected emerging creatives from across Africa, including musicians, producers, songwriters, composers, sound engineers, instrumentalists, and industry executives.

Participants will receive hands-on training in live performance, songwriting, music production, the business of music, and more, led by Berklee instructors.

The program features classroom sessions, practical workshops, personalized feedback, and culminates in a showcase of participants' work.

This marks the first time Berklee faculty will travel to Nigeria as part of its "Berklee on the Road" series, bringing globally recognized teaching directly to Africa's vibrant music scene.

Tiwa Savage, a Berklee alumna (PDM ’07), described the foundation as a way to give back and build at home after years of global success.

“I’ve been lucky to have access in my journey. Now, through the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, I’m using everything I’ve learned to create the same for the next generation of African creatives,” she said.

She envisions TSMF as a long-term pipeline connecting African talent to global opportunities, producing not just artists but leaders, executives, and mentors who reinvest in future generations.

Applications are open to aspiring creatives continent-wide, with a deadline of March 20, 2026.

The program is tuition-free, though participants cover their own travel and accommodation to Lagos. Interested applicants can apply via the official Berklee link or through the foundation's social media channels.

The initiative highlights the growing global influence of African music and aims to strengthen the entire creative ecosystem by providing access, mentorship, and skills to shape the industry's future.
